November 2003 Tja - ich bin sicher mein Englisch ist alles andere als perfekt, aber sehts auch selbst an: Von: beko An: support@mambox.com Datum: Thu, 27 Nov 2003 14:06:12 +0100 Hi there, /three/ week ago I wrote the following EMail. Not getting at least a simple reply from your company really disappoints me (not only regarding to the wasted time writing english email I feel stultified, too). Well, perhaps it's time so bring the stick back home and share my experiences with your company and your product with friends at office, in my circle of friends and last but not least the internet. ...and here we go again: I bought this nice MamboX MP3/USB-Stick some weeks ago. The most time I'm very happy with it - just uploading new mp3s drives me nearly mad. I primary bought this stick because of the little mark "works with linux" on the box. I was amused. Well, I tried to upload or manage files with serveral Linux-Distributions (all up to date), WinXP, Win2000 and last but not least Win98Se. On all Systems I can access the stick but nearly every 6th file I'm uploading or downloading ends up in garbage I formatted the stick several times with Fat16 via Linux, Windows and the stick's selfformat itself. It's always the same - file garbage when make us of the stick. Using the integrated delete-function causes errors straight to the whole filesystem damaging all files. Well, even format with /dev/random would make more efficient data-garbage Currently I formatted the stick with Win2000 Fat16 and see what happend: The stick's config file can't be rewritten. I have to configure all stick settings on every launch! Sure, the file comes back using the integrated format-function, but this will cause even more file damage while copy my beloved mp3s back (Hey, I tried this several times using the linux-tool "dd" writing bit per bit, after this I used the linux-tool "diff" comparing the files bit per bit => I got screens full of error-bits!). Well, I hoped to find something about this on your website - perhaps a new firmware? Now I'm scared googling through the internet and reading similar storys and problems from other MamboX-Users :-( I'm close to bring the stick back to the store - the only thing is holding me is the last hope of a patch for this problem from you. I really love the design of the stick - small and very handy.
