Also wirklich, du brauchst doch kein HowTo für n Jabber!!

Du installierst es, (bei debian z.B. mit apt-get install jabber) , dann gehst du zu /etc/jabber editierst die jabber.xml, tauscht localhost gegen deinen Servernamen aus, startest Jabber neu und fertig ist das Ding! Mehr is da net, n Account kannste dir mit nem IM einrichten, wie gaim oder so.

alternativ kann man auch gezielt nach anderen Jabberclienten für Linux googeln. In den dortigen Foren gibt es neben gezieltem Support für die Servereinrichtung auch das ein oder andere How-to.
